Refugees Are Essential.
The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future. In more than 40 countries and in 26 U.S. cities, our dedicated teams provide clean water, shelter, health care, education and empowerment support to refugees and displaced people.
Service Project: Home Cleaning Kits for Refugees
Each year, nearly 300 refugees arrive in Utah with nothing more than their clothing. They need many of the basic items required to clean their home. They are also in need of reusable face masks to wear in public. Canyon Rim Cares will assemble cleaning kits for refugees. The cleaning kits should be assembled in a resuable tote bag. Each kit should include the following items:
- 1 bottle multipurpose cleaner
- 1 bottle toilet bowl cleaner
- 1 bottle dish-washing liquid
- 2-4 sponges
- Pack of trash bags
- Hand soap (bar)
- 10-20 reusable face masks (should be contained in a Ziploc or equivalent storage bag)
We will provide you with the resuable tote bag. Volunteers will supply the rest of the cleaning supplies. Please fill out the form below to request the tote bag.
*Free meal valid only at food trucks at Canyon Rim Park on July 18, 2020. Meal vouchers provided at drop off at Canyon Rim Park on July 18. Limit 2 per household.
