Construction of Little Libraries

Goal: 20 Boxes

Take a Book. Share a Book.

Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that inspires a love of reading, builds community, and sparks creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the world. Little Free Library’s Impact
Library Program places book-sharing boxes where they can be a catalyst for improving reading motivation and deepening community connectedness. It is simply a wooden box with a door that is bigger than a mailbox, but smaller than a dresser. It houses free books for neighbors to share.

For the Canyon Rim Day of Service on July 27th, we hope to build 20 of these boxes! Then for the 2019 school year, they will be placed in underrepresented Millcreek Promise neighborhoods that have the most need for reading resources, and painted by a community liaison that wants to care for the Little Library. These neighborhoods are in 84106, 84107, 84109, and 84123.

Project performed in conjunction with Millcreek City’s Millcreek Promise Initiative
